ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) has become a well-known diagnosis among children in the U.S. Appropriate assessment and diagnosis by a qualified healthcare professional is the first step to proper treatment. ABA is designed for ADHD behaviors and is needed to have lasting results. Studies have shown that psychotropic medication combined with behavioral therapy have shown great success in treating ADHD symptoms.

ABA is not a single treatment, but rather a series of tools that utilize behavior principles to make changes in observable behavior. Impulsive and hyperactive behaviors can certainly be observed in children with ADHD. ADHD can hinder academic and social progress. Our treatment staff utilizes ABA to help teach parents and their children how to cope with the ADHD impulses and teach appropriate behaviors through the use of reinforcement.

Establishing positive consequences for appropriate behaviors such as focus, task completion, and certain social skill related behaviors can help your child cope with ADHD.

Our approach focuses on skill development in one on one sessions with your child. Appropriate behaviors are targeted and reinforced to teach your child to cope with impulses and inattentiveness. Our treatment staff will work with your pediatrician, school personnel, and other mental health providers by providing data on the increases and decreases of targeted behaviors. The collaboration not only allows us to make decisions about the success of therapy, but also allows your child’s health care professional to make a more informed decision regarding medication adjustment.
